Koalani Kaulukukui

Koa Kaulukukui joined Earthjustice's Honolulu office as an associate attorney in January, 2007. She was born and raised in Puna on the Big Island of Hawai'i and graduated from Kamehameha Schools. She then studied environmental science and broadcast journalism at Chapman University, finishing up her studies at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa with a BA in Environmental Studies in 2003. Koa obtained her J.D. from the University of Hawai'i's William S. Richardson School of Law in 2006. In addition to obtaining a Certificate in Environmental Law, Koa prepared for a career in environmental law by externing at Hawai'i's Department of Land of and Natural Resources, the Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX, Earthjustice's Honolulu office, and with Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Richard Clifton. After law school, Koa worked for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs' Native Rights Land and Culture division, where she assisted in protecting Native Hawaiian rights from the impacts of development.
