The spectacular Mineral King valley is one of the oldest high mountain communities in California's Sierra Nevada mountain range. It is a truly historic place. For well over a century, Mineral King has functioned as a rare model of cultural sustainability, setting standards for the preservation, care and maintenance of all our nation's mountain communities that are situated on government lands.

Earthjustice has a special relationship with this valley. Our first case, in 1965, was protecting Mineral King from resort development. It took several years, but we were victorious.
