Honolulu Irradiator
In Brief: Requested a hearing before the Nuclear Regulatory Commission on an application to build a Cobalt-60 irradiator to treat fruit and vegetables for fruit flies near the Honolulu International Airport because of inadequate measures to protect public health and safety and the environment. In August 2007, a license was granted to build the irradiator. Earthjustice filed an application to stay the license issuance.
